Face masks are effective in slowing the spread of COVID-19 by reducing the risk of transmission from people who may have the virus but do not know that they are infected. Masks also discourage touching of the face. Remember that masks alone cannot protect you from COVID-19. Maintain 2m distance from others and wash your hands frequently and thoroughly, even while wearing a mask. Read more

HOW TO PUT THE MASK ON
1. Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Dry your hands with a clean paper towel and throw the paper towel away. Alternatively, sanitise your hands with alcohol-based hand sanitiser.
2. Make sure the exterior side of the mask is facing out, away from your face.
3. Place the mask on your face by picking up the mask by the ties or elastic straps, placing it on your face (over your nose and mouth).
4. Tie the UPPER ties behind your head with a bow.
5. Tie the LOWER ties behind your head with a bow OR hooking the elastic straps behind your ears.
6. Make sure the mask is completely secure and that it covers your nose and mouth. The bottom edge must be under your chin. Ensure there are no side gaps.
7. Wash your hands well.

HOW TO REMOVE THE MASK
1. Wash your hands before removing the mask.
2. Do not touch the inside of your mask (the part over the nose and mouth).
3. Untie the LOWER ties first.
4. Untie the UPPER ties and remove the mask by holding the ties.
5. If your mask has elastic straps, unhook each ear and remove the mask by holding the elastic straps.
6. Carefully place the complete mask unit in a clean bowl.
7. Follow the cleaning instructions when you get home EVERY DAY.
8. Wash your hands after removing and sanitising the mask.

HOW TO CLEAN THE MASK: Option 1
Masks should be soaked in a bowl of boiling water as soon as they are removed from your face, when you get home every day.

1. Place the complete mask unit in an empty, clean bowl.
2. Carefully pour boiling water from a kettle/pot onto the mask (take care when handling/pouring boiling water into the bowl and keep away from children). Make sure the mask is completely covered with boiling water.
3. Leave the entire mask unit in the hot water for at least 5 minutes.
4. Remove the mask from the bowl and rinse under cold water. Do not squeeze or rub the mask unit.
5. Allow the mask unit to air-dry.

Option 2 - Wash care guidelines when using detergent:
1. Machine or handwash 60ºC
2. Air dry
3. Hot or steam iron

• DO NOT REMOVE THE MASK TO TALK TO SOMEONE.
• DO NOT LEAVE YOUR USED MASK WITHIN THE REACH OF OTHERS.
• DO NOT PUT YOUR MASK DOWN ON SURFACES AND THEN PUT ON AGAIN WITHOUT WASHING.
