• Assist in finding a suitable site for the store
• Design the store using the latest store design principles
• Order all shopfittings, equipment, furniture, stationery etc.
• Appoint a shopfitting team to complete the fitting out of the store
• Oversee the shopfitting team to ensure Truworths' standards are maintained
• Appoint an operations team who are responsible for training store staff as well as physical merchandising and preparation of the store for the opening
• Provide in-depth training and know-how for the store manager. This training will be done in South Africa, in one of our own stores
• The manager should be back in his own store at least 3-4 weeks prior to the store opening
• Provide know-how and expertise on a day-to-day basis to store management once the store has commenced trading
• Provide marketing and advertising support
• Provide suitable fashion merchandise.

The franchisee would need to provide the appropriate I.T. systems in order to run the business and provide Truworths South Africa with the necessary retail information required to supply the stores.

Truworths will give the Franchisee the right to operate the business and the right to utilise know-how in relation to the establishment, management and conduct of the business.

The commencement date and period of agreement shall be decided between the parties.

The franchisee will only conduct the franchise business at premises approved by Truworths. As soon as suitable premises are agreed between both parties, the franchisee will sign a lease agreement with the landlord. Once the floor plan has been submitted to Truworths, a suitably designed store of international standard will be submitted to the franchisee for approval.

Once the store design has been agreed upon, Truworths will assist with fitting the store. The franchisee shall not procure any other fixtures or fittings other than those approved by Truworths.

Yes. Truworths will provide all relevant know-how and details to enable the franchisee to commence and continue trading, including:

• Layout of fixtures and fittings
• Specifications for décor and signage
• Operating manuals
• Stock control
• Staff training
• Budgeting
• Administrative matters necessary for the operation of the franchise business.

Yes. The operating manuals comprise written directives relating to the conduct of the business and include:

• Store administrative procedures manual
• Store manager's manual
• Window dresser's manual
• Visual display manual (MBP)
• Customer care manual
• Other manuals and input relevant to running the business

The franchisee must ensure that Truworths International standards in terms of customer care, visual presentation, marketing and store operations are maintained at all times.

Yes. Truworths will grant the franchisee the right to use the marks in the territory. The franchisee agrees not to use any trading style which is similar to the trademarks, or which may cause confusion or deception.

Truworths will supply appropriate fashion merchandise to suit local demand. Merchandise will be supplied on a regular basis to ensure a flow of fresh merchandise.

Should Truworths fail to deliver the goods due to circumstances beyond its control, it should advise the franchisee of the circumstances and the franchisee shall, with Truworths' permission, procure the goods elsewhere.

Yes. The franchisee will obtain relevant and necessary import permits and requisite permission of the Exchange Control Authorities.

The franchisee, together with Truworths, will research market conditions to ascertain what they believe the market will pay for the merchandise and so determine retail selling prices.
